My time with them made me realize that I can dress like a real man today. I was less confident than I expected when they found me a suit. Did they influence your approach to design in any way? PVH: I knew of the Sapeurcommunity for a long time, and they’re an important influence for me. Paul, you mentioned that your time with Sapeurs in the Congolese city Brazzaville was eye-opening.

Coralie and I are often discussing things like the old kings of France like Louis XIV who were as pretty as women are today. With the idea of gender fluidity and the reality of our actual society, we try to find a good balance.

I know, Paul, you’ve tackled gender in your artistry before, so how has gender played a part in your design process-if at all? PVH: I proved that I have no problem with my feminine side, and it helps in our creative process. It gives so much power to the color-the colors are deeper. What piece or pattern from this collection are you most excited by? CB: We are so proud of the sweats and the joggers and especially the result of the print on the velvet.
